NINA IN BEIJING---JUST CALL HER PROFESSOR!
Just when you think Nina may be
taking it a bit easier, she packs in more activity in her busy schedule.
Having led State Ballet of Georgia in two mini-tours to Italy--- championing
Ashton in Catania for a week in March and Balanchine in Legnago and Gorizia
in late April/early May, she was off to Beijing for her second teaching
stint at Beijing Dance Academy.
Setting Les Sylphides (Chopiniana)
on the Academy’s advance students and soloists had her in the studios
from early morning to evening. She was assisted by
Ekaterina Shavliashvili. A public performance was held May 18---after
which the Beijing institution gratefully bestowed on her a professorship in
the Academy. Professor Superballerina Nina? Sounds like a cool title!
