News from Nina, January 2, 2005
Tbilisi got a very special surprise for
Christmas, a performance of Dreams About Japan
by the National Ballet of Georgia, with Nina in the role she created in the Ratmansky
oeuvre. Nina says the company is working hard---no surprise since she herself sets the
example.
Earlier in December, she danced an
unscheduled Swan Lake at the Bolshoi. Her work schedule
with her Georgian company being so fluid, it seems it will be catch as catch can for those
who want to see Nina performances.
As of late December, Nina said that she had not cancelled any appearances
that are already contracted for. This includes Sleeping
Beauty at the National Theatre Tokyo in April. However, her ABT season is still in
doubt.
